Project Description

The Town of Mooresville Police Department was designed as a state-of-the-art facility for this growing suburb of Charlotte, NC. The facility consists of separate areas for Administration, Criminal Investigations, Special Investigations, Tactical Training, Forensics, AFIS, Evidence Storage (with Drop Lockers), Interview Rooms, Patrol, Central Records, 911 Communications, and Community Events.

As part of the original design, a future courtroom with seating for over 120 occupants was planned to connect to the facility. A secure vehicular sally port between the two halves of the building isolates the
transfer of detainees from law enforcement vehicles to either the Police Department or court. The court design incorporates a secure, on-site office for Judges and space for jury deliberation, accessible offices for the District Attorney and general conference space for other attorneys. Holding rooms are provided in the rear of the courthouse plan to contain inmates awaiting court hearings or transfer to the county jail.
