Project Description
Stewart-Cooper-Newell and the Bacon Group were selected to design a new, state-of-the art Gaston County Police Animal Care Enforcement Facility.
The existing shelter was cramped, outdated, and did not meet the County’s high demand to properly house and maintain pets for adoption. The new design is approximately 21,000 SF and includes dog kennels / runs as well as cat kennels that are compliant with the Animal Welfare Act. The canine and feline housing and support areas are now up to code, and there is also an area to house exotic animals, as well as a pet adoption area and a space for animal control processing.
The County acquired land and an existing commercial building that was converted into the new Animal Care Enforcement Center. Stewart-Cooper-Newell and the Bacon Group worked with the County and Animal Care Enforcement staff to bring the project through construction within budget and on-time.
